SBC-KF771-HD

034Motorsport is proud to announce the availability of Southbend Clutch's product line for the Audi Coupe Quattro, 80Q, and 90Q with the 7A I5 20V engine.  Southbend's lineup is a favorite in the aftermarket community and includes some stellar offerings.

Street Series Clutches
The HS and SS lines of Street Series clutches are intended for cars that are mainly driven on the street and occasionally at the track. All Street Series clutch kits are designed with full face clutch linings with a steel backing plate to give you a smoother engagement than any puck style clutch. Full face clutches are available with the same friction materials as the puck style clutches and will not sacrifice holding capacity.

DXD Drag Racing Clutches
The HD and SS lines of DXD Drag Racing clutches are intended for cars mainly used on the race track. The puck style clutches deliver a much more aggressive engagement than the full face clutches found in the street series, and will offer superior launches and faster shifting.

SS vs. HD Kits
The SS series kits use the same friction materials on the disc but have an extreme clamp load pressure plate with a pedal effort increase up to 50%. The result is a more aggressive, stronger clutch that can handle serious performance upgrades.

HD Kits

HD Stage 1 - (KF771-HD) – Heavy Duty:The Stage 1 HD Heavy Duty kits contain a heavy duty pressure plate and organic disc. The linings on this disc are premium woven medium metal content lining. Also included in the kit are a throw-out bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment tool. Torque Rating: 295 ft/lbs

HD Stage 2 - (KF771-HD-O) - Daily:The Stage 2 HD-O Organic kits contain a modified high performance pressure plate and heavy duty organic disc. The discs feature premium woven medium metal content organic linings. This friction material has a 9,000 RPM burst and dissipates heat quicker than any other organic lining on the market. Also included in the kit are a throw-out bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment tool. Torque Rating: 315 ft/lbs

HD Stage 2 - (KF771-HD-OFE) - Endurance:The Stage 2 HD-OFE Organic/Feramic kits contain a modified high performance pressure plate and a high performance disc which combines the newest technology in friction materials. The discs feature a feramic full face lining on the flywheel side and a medium content organic lining on the pressure plate side. This combination runs cooler and significantly extends clutch life. The OFE series clutches not only engage very smooth, but have superior torque capacity to many puck-style kits on the market. This state of the art kit is what everybody wants when it comes to street performance without a sacrifice in drivability. Also included in the kit are a throw out bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment tool. Torque Rating: 375 ft/lbs

SS Kits

SS Stage 3 - (KF771-SS-O) - Daily:The Stage 3 SS-O Organic kits contain an extreme clamp load pressure plate and heavy duty organic disc. The discs feature premium woven medium metal content organic linings. This friction material has a 9,000 RPM burst and dissipates heat quicker than any other organic lining on the market. Also included in the kit are a throw-out bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment tool. Torque Rating: 450 ft/lbs

SS Stage 3 - (KF771-SS-TZ) - Endurance:The Stage 3 SS-TZ Kevlar kits contain an extreme clamp load pressure plate and heavy duty kelvar disc. The metal backed kevlar linings provide a smooth engagement and have the torque capacity to handle high horse power, high revving engines. The disk is rated to 12,000rpm. These clutch kits maintain a stock feel at the pedal and have unmatched durability. Also included in the kit are a throw out bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment tool. Torque Rating: 485 ft/lbs

SS Stage4 - (KF771-SS-X) - Extreme:The Stage 4 SS-X Feramic kits are the ultimate when it comes to delivering maximum torque to the street and strip driven car. With feramic on both sides of the disc, the clutch delivers a more positive engagement. Because feramic clutch material dissipates heat extremely fast it will give you maximum clutch life and a consistent feel each time you shift.Torque Rating: 600 ft/lbs

DXD Kits

DXD-HD Stage2 - (KF771-HD-DXD-B) - Drag:The Stage 2 HD-DXD-B Cerametallic kits contain a modified high performance pressure plate and a 6-puck clutch disc. The discs feature a graphite-impregnated ceramic friction material, which is perfectly suited for drag racing because of its maximum friction co-efficient, rapid heat dissipation and abrupt engagement characteristics. Torque Rating: 410 ft/lbs

DXD-SS Stage3 - (KF771-SS-DXD-B) - Drag:The Stage 3 SS-DXD-B Cerametallic kits contain an extreme clamp load pressure plate and a 6-puck clutch disc. The discs feature a graphite-impregnated ceramic friction material, which is perfectly suited for drag racing because of its maximum friction co-efficient, rapid heat dissipation and abrupt engagement characteristics. Torque Rating: 585 ft/lbs

Note about break-in:This clutch uses a heavy duty clutch disc that performs well in very high torque use that produce extreme shear forces and heat.  In order to gain this performance advantage, the disc friction material is much harder and more robust than the typical OEM organic disc. In addition, the disc backing plate, what the friction material is riveted to, is much more rigid.  OEM clutch discs use a type of belleville spring washer to allow the disc to compress and be compliant when being clamped between the pressure plate and flywheel friction surfaces.  These high performance clutches, however, use a solid steel backing plate which does not compress at all, this type of construction gives the disc its incredible strength, but means that the disc will require more break-in time than the compliant OEM counterpart.  Keep in mind that this clutch may have trouble fully disengaging the first time it's used, and will require much more break-in than the OEM clutch to achieve normal use.  Typically up to 1000 miles of use is normal to get full break-in. Be sure break-in use consists of generous stop and go as well as shifting, the slipping action as the clutch is engaged is what facilitates the break-in process.  Ultimately the break-in process is one that allows the clutch disc to confirm to the pressure plate and flywheel friction surfaces, once these surfaces confirm to each other they perform very well and offer the maximum clutch holding power possible. Be patient with initial use and driving and you'll be rewarded with an incredibly performing clutch system!

Please Note: This clutch is a non-stock item and availability is dependent on the manufacturer's current inventory.  Allow up to 48 hours for processing when ordering, and please contact our Sales Staff for current availability if a rush order is needed.
