IE's Sport Plus Series Assembled Short Block offers the same precisely built and carefully specified components as our "Sport" series short blocks, with the added addition of IE billet main caps. This additional work includes an align hone and secures the billet main caps with a set of specialty ARP main studs. This offers additional crank stability and main bearing support for customers building extensively high horsepower, high revving, and high-boost track use while still maintaining reliability for street use. This 2.0T TSI EA113 Genn 1/2 assembly also offers incredible rod and piston strength with reliability and factory-like operating characteristics. Machined using industry-leading practices and assembled in-house by an IE certified race engine technician utilizing precise measurement and assembly tools not found elsewhere. Your sport series short block will serve as the strong foundation for your VW MK5, MK6 Golf R, & Audi B7 or 8J chassis 2.0T powerhouse.

When ordering your new performance short block, you have the option to send in your crankshaft and block to be built, or purchase cores from IE to be built instead. In most cases, we recommend sending in your existing engine to be built for a faster turn around time and lower cost. Core charges are a great option if your existing short block or crankshaft has significant damage and can not be used. All cores will be critically inspected and verified by an IE Race Engine specialist before being accepted as a good and useable core. All engines are assembled in-house and assembly times can vary depending on workload. Typical build times can be as fast as 1-2 weeks or as long as 3-4 weeks from the time we receive your cores. If you chose to purchase a core, this does not guarantee a faster turn around time and cores are not guaranteed to be in-stock at time of purchase. Block Core Charge
Choose this option if you can not supply a useable FSI block. Block must include main caps.

Crankshaft Manual
Choose this option if you have a manual transmission and can not supply a useable crankshaft.

Crankshaft DSG
Choose this option if you have a VW/Audi transverse DSG transmission and can not supply a useable crankshaft.

Crankshaft B7 Automatic
Choose this option if you have a Audi B7 longitudinal automatic transmission and can not supply a crankshaft.

Once the OEM VW/Audi block is cleaned and multi-point inspected, an Integrated Engineering torque plate is used to secure the block into the proper shape during the boring and honing process. This guarantees true round cylinders and results in precise piston to cylinder wall clearances necessary for long engine life. The block deck receives a fresh machined surface for a proper head gasket seal and strong compression. The maincaps are installed and measured to exacting specifications using new OEM main bolts ensuring exact roundness for proper crank stability. The rotating assembly is then installed with Integrated Engineering forged Tuscan I beam rifle drilled connecting rods, Mahle 83mm 9:1CR forged pistons, Mahle Motorsport rod and main bearings, and a polished OEM crankshaft by an IE expert engine builder. All clearances are recorded on a multi-point critical dimension check list with all measured clearances that is included with your block, along with an instruction & care pamphlet.


IE Tuscan I Beam Connecting Rods
Tuscan rods are the premium benchmark connecting rod application offering industry leading strength to weight ratio and support up to 1000BHP!
The Tuscan design is custom-crafted and optimized by our engineers using the latest CAD and FEA software then rigorously tested in our in-house engine dyno and chassis dyno test cells. This results in a connecting rod that is uniquely strong and light, for the ultimate in performance and reliability. With the included rifle drilling option, oil is forced to the wrist pin by means of a small hole drilled through the rod vertically. This reduces friction on the pin and pin bushing, thus reducing wear and further extending engine life.

Mahle Motorsport Forged Pistons
The included set of forged stroker pistons make for a stout reliable engine for daily driving, road racing, drag racing, or full out competition racing. Mahle pistons utilize weight-optimized aluminum pistons manufactured from high-temperature resistant aluminum-silicon alloy. This alloy along with Mahle's refined design and production technology enable an ideal combination producing pistons with low weight and high load-bearing capacity. Mahle pistons are treated with their own GRAFAL skirt coating, this greatly reduces the skirt to wall surface friction and increases scuffing resistance and lower engine noise.

Mahle Motorsport Rod & Main Bearings
Mahle Motorsport manufactures the highest quality race bearings available proven time and time again by race engine builders including F1 race teams. With many special features, these bearings have great wear characteristics and added durability for long engine life. Mahle uses a proprietary tri-metal blend to provide a stiffer bearing under high load use, which is necessary for race engines. Each bearing is designed with state-of-the-art software for the ideal oil film thickness, which adds reliability and greatly reduces the chance of spinning a bearing.

Crankshaft Re-manufacturing
Your supplied core or new OE crankshaft receives specialty machine work before engine assembly. The oil holes are chamfered and the journals are polished for improved oiling properties before receiving a multi-point critical measurement test to ensure long operating life of the rotating assembly.

IE Billet Main Caps
IE's billet main caps are carefully crafted in-house from USA 4140 alloy steel, this large profile and high strength material are much stronger and stiffer than the factory main caps. These main caps provide extreme rigidity for the main bearings and crankshaft, which is a necessity for high horsepower engines.

ARP Main Studs
The IE billet main caps are installed and machined using a set of ARP main studs. This ARP main stud kit further eliminates main cap walk and fretting. ARP main studs are made from premium grade 8740 alloy steel and heat treated to 200,000psi then thread rolled for industry-leading strength and reliable engine hardware.


Each block is finish painted with durable black enamel and packaged inside a specialty engine bag with a desiccant pouch to remove any moisture that may accumulate during the shipping process. They are then securely bolted into specially manufactured shipping crates ensuring there is no damage.

This is a short block only, the block will be assembled with all internal rotating assembly parts listed in the product description only.  You will be required to supply the cylinder head, oil pump system, engine accessories, gaskets, manifolds, etc... of your choice.
